Press Release December 18, 2001 For Immediate Release Contact Person: Lynn Jourdan (207) 967.0666 Noted National Geographic Veteran Joins Hunt for Amelia Earhart Photojournalist Jonathan Blair Now Part of Nauticos Corporation Team Hanover, Maryland - Nauticos, world-renowned deep ocean exploration company, is pleased to announce the hiring of internationally known photographer, Jonathan Blair. As Director of Media Development, Mr. Blair's first project at Nauticos will be the Amelia Earhart expedition. Mr. Blair is a leader in natural and deep-sea photography. He brings to Nauticos' Media Division years of experience in planning and photographing expeditions worldwide, and he has published 37 articles with National Geographic. "Jonathan has been a colleague of ours for many years, and we have worked on past projects together, so he is a natural to join our team. We are proud to have an acknowledged leader in the field to help us tell the tales of our expeditions and discoveries, " says David Jourdan, President of Nauticos. Mr. Blair's most recent ocean-exploration photos appeared in the October 1999 National Geographic feature "Last Dive," about the search for a secret WW II Japanese submarine. The assignment included planning, installing and servicing deep-ocean cameras to capture imagery more than 17,500 feet underwater. Nauticos Corporation located the Japanese I-52 cargo submarine for a customer in 1995. National Geographic also featured Mr. Blair's photography in the 1996 articles "Life Without Light," describing deep-sea life in the Gulf of Mexico, and "Treasure from the Silver Bank," chronicling the hunt for Spanish treasure in the Caribbean. In 1994, Mr. Blair photographed the Lusitania wreck site for the National Geographic feature "Riddle of the Lusitania."
